Winter Station
The Winter Station installation explores the concept of resilience and the transient nature of life. Inspired by a story from Attar of Nishapur, the installation is a lifeguard chair encased in a giant ice block, symbolizing the struggle and eventual triumph over adversity.
The Concept
There is a story by Attar of Nishapur about a king who assembled a group of wise men to create a ring that would make him happy when he is sad and sad when he is happy. They made him a ring inscribed with the phrase "This too shall pass."
The Installation
This installation is about accepting the transitory state. It's about being frozen, on hold, struggling to break free while resilience is the only option. Resilience makes things, people, and you change, not particularly in the way they look but by carrying a new meaning.
We wanted to make something simple, comprehensible, and familiar for everyone. The installation is a lifeguard accompanied by a mirror stuck inside a giant ice block that melts through time. The ice and hardship will pass. Everything will turn out fine, even you who is looking into the mirror.
